The Borrowers

I need to make a priority of catching this before it's out of theaters.

Wat

Somewhere in Japan, there is apparently a museum that specializes in rare Mercedes unicorns, ricey Suburbans, and.....Hawaiian shirts?

I've been re-watching it lately. So good.

New Additions

Bow's Gallery on the Japanese Honda website has a couple new images up.

I've been a big fan of this guy's work for years. See another post about it here.

Still Alive

Our son was born toward the end of December, and so I've been a little too busy to post much on here. It's been excellent, and it was a real struggle to return to normal work/school/life.

It was 50 degrees in DC this past weekend, and so I fired up the Ruckus for the first time in about two months and went riding, which was nice. I miss summer weather and long rides though. Minkus of StandardFunctions fame is always posting incredible shots in the TotalRuckus pic thread, so at least I can ride vicariously.

Lowridin

While I can't say that I know anything about lowriders, this is cool. Featuring Danny Trejo aka "Machete".

Pilfered from Ralf Becker

EDIT: 9/9/2010 was also the 15th Anniversary of the Playstation launch in the United States. I'm going to go geek out and play some Intelligent Qube. Does anyone other than me get the rubber duckie reference in this image?

Really really random

I've been on an aviation kick of late, and I must say that these gentlemen have genuine stones to be flying craft like this.

I didn't even know people still flew this sort of thing, either original or replica, although if I'd thought about it I guess it isn't so far out there.

This certainly looks like more fun than I've ever had in a car, to say the least. I imagine it's also an order of magnitude more dangerous, but such is life.

Christmas in July

After a very long wait that was very worth it, issue 4 of Japanese Nostalgic Car has arrived.

Anyone that's coming here to read my drivel should also be reading this magazine. Ben & Co have put together a tremendous publication and the new issue features an even snazzier format than before. This is a work of love wrought by people who own, drive, live, and breathe vintage Japanese iron. Even after only four issues, you can page back through them and see how the JDM Nostalgic movement in the US has grown and changed over time, it's our history. These sorts of magazines are NOT cash cows but are hugely valuable to the community, so please SUBSCRIBE NOW.

Nice......Wrangler?

This comes from the Flickr of Mister-P, owner of the white 510 I posted awhile back. I guess it's a Wrangler, but it's been injected with so much rad that it's hard to tell anymore. I believe this shot is from USDM Jam. Airbags, Wats, stretch, Bride seat, Nardi wheel, all on a Jeep, and yet it somehow works.

If anyone can provide more (1024x or larger) images of this thing, hit me up and I'll ad them to this post and credit.

G-Works

I recently started up a subscription to G-Works via a member on the Japanese Nostalgic Car boards

It's a really good mag, I like it better than Nostalgic Hero or Old Timer because it features more tuned cars rather than just stock restorations. It also includes a great deal of tech info, often illustrated in colorful cartoons, such as how an LSD or manual transmission works.

If anyone is interested in getting their own subscription, head over to the JNC boards and look up a member named "G"

Check out the official G-Works site HERE

Anyone stateside who owns a Hako should be getting this mag

TE37v mania continues! There are several pages in this issue of how every car imaginable looks on TE37v in different colors and fitment.

JDM Photosafari - 4

These are the last photos from Colin Chu's epic trip to Japan with Bulletproof Automotive. Pictures of food is pretty off-topic for a car blog and I promise not to do it all the time, but it's pretty photography.

I actually own another domain that I used to host a food blog on, but I haven't touched it in a long time.

Wall of Sake.

Okazyua! I see sanma, shiozake, misoyaki, etc. This is where I'd stop.

Pretty sure everyone knows what Uni looks like, but I thought it was a nice shot.

This is the craziest ice cream selection I've ever seen, and apparently this is only a fraction of it.

This is painful, because there's *nowhere* in DC you can get REAL ramen.
