I prefer running cars

It looks like my "Loctite surgery" was successful, as the car is apparently running fine. I'm getting a spare bottom end to work on as a backup, but in the meantime I'm going to drive it and enjoy it.

I got the wheels on last weekend. Black Racing 14x6 +40, super lame fitment but I wasn't going for ZOMGFLUSH. Needs moar low and some small spacers.

Suspension is currently in the works.

Damn it.

I appear to have a short-nose crank problem after all...as you can tell.

On the upside, apparently Miatas are really easy to work on, much simpler than any Honda I've touched or an S-chassis. I spent a total of maybe 4 hours getting everything taken apart, working only from miata.net "garage" section printouts.

1.6L Grainger manual is in the mail.

Mazdafarian

I have acquired yet ANOTHER Miata. I still have my flat-white 1996 (for sale, now), but I couldn't resist picking up this absolutely mint 1990 a couple weeks ago. Just about 100k and near perfect inside and out. Now I just need to find some Wats in a good size.

Oh...and apparently it has a short-nose crank dysfunction, necessitating either a quickie loctite fix, a whole new crank (ordered just to be safe), or potentially a whole new engine (trying to avoid this).

Excuse the blurry shots, I need to take better ones once it's been waxed and it's running right.

Progress at last

I picked up this '96 NA8 Miata for next to nothing awhile back with the intentions of doing a shakotan/boro project. I'm just going to do all the wrongest things possible to it, everything I've ever learned not to do to a car. It should be fun.

The car was in pretty good shape, less the flat-white paint which I plan to leave alone. Both airbags were blown though, so I replaced the drivers' side and still have to do the other side. I already bought another wheel for it, but I want it to be stock for inspection.

I need to get my suspension in order. I have most of the stuff, I just need to do some installation. I need to score a set of NB tophats to improve the travel though.
