Turntablism

I stumbled across this a couple days ago. Someone is taking nonfunctional old turntables and making them into wall clocks. I wish I'd thought of this.

Someone needs to do this with a Micro Seiki RX-1500FVG.....although I suppose that would be a $15,000 wall clock and it'd be a shame to ruin a working one.

Zoomer Festival 09 Pt. 1

We had a great turnout for the first-ever DC Ruckus/Zoomer event. There were some FAST bikes there, including a couple of Zuma-swapped 2-smokers. I was.....slow. I definitely need a variator, some new weights, an exhaust, and a CDI.

I'm breaking this into two posts since there are quite a few pictures.

We started out at a local car meet spot, Rockville Starbucks. The blue monster is one of the Zuma swaps.






We had quite a few bikes show up at Ben's Chili Bowl. This shot is from a little too far away, but I didn't want to be standing in the middle of U Street on a busy Saturday for obvious reasons.




We are equal opportunity, and so we had a few other bikes present, including this 250cc Kymco that generally blew everyone else away.





Check out the BOWLS carbon cover where the OEM tail-light stalk usually goes. This is brilliant and I'm absolutely going to order one. I don't want to repaint my whole rear frame just for a stupid light.

10 Years

Yesterday was the 10th Anniversary of the release of the Dreamcast on US soil (9/9/99). I remember standing in line on launch day for my system, and while I've since sold it, I still have another one sealed in the box (along with a couple other loose ones).

I'm definitely going to hook it back up in the coming weeks, probably via VGA, as nothing else does it justice.

Dope on a Rope

I like trying to find wheels that aren't terribly popular or well known. I've probably got 200 bookmarks in my "wheels" folder in Firefox, half of which most people in the US likely haven't ever heard of.


While I *just* got my Black Racing wheels on the NA6, if I ever decide to go flared, I'll definitely be using a custom-sized set of these:

I prefer running cars

It looks like my "Loctite surgery" was successful, as the car is apparently running fine. I'm getting a spare bottom end to work on as a backup, but in the meantime I'm going to drive it and enjoy it.

I got the wheels on last weekend. Black Racing 14x6 +40, super lame fitment but I wasn't going for ZOMGFLUSH. Needs moar low and some small spacers.

Suspension is currently in the works.

Kick n Go

In the mid 1970's, Honda introduced a toy scooter called the "Kick n Go". Pretty basic, you stand on it and kick a pedal to make it go forward and then it's got a grip brake on the handlebar like a bicycle.

Very front-heavy and so kids did faceplants and they eventually took them off the market, but now it's a neat piece of merchandise for the old-school Honda enthusiast like myself.

I picked this one up on eBay for $35 shipped a few weeks ago and I also ordered a new OEM sticker set. I'll be tearing it down, cleaning it up, and respraying it some proper Honda color.

Ugly Bike

I've had this 2003 250EX sitting in my garage since before Christmas. The carbs need to be cleaned badly, it won't start at all. Not sure if it's going to get sold or become a streetfighter project. I think I'd rather sell it and look for a CB750. I guess I'll learn how to take a bike apart though.

Damn it.

I appear to have a short-nose crank problem after all...as you can tell.

On the upside, apparently Miatas are really easy to work on, much simpler than any Honda I've touched or an S-chassis. I spent a total of maybe 4 hours getting everything taken apart, working only from miata.net "garage" section printouts.

1.6L Grainger manual is in the mail.

Where do I get these?

I found this in a Flickr photo set from the Jefferson 500 (annual vintage race at Summit Point). These are some NASTY steelies, I want a set of these to run on my Miata. I wonder if they're 4x100?
