Twice in two weeks

So this is the other one, I bought this a week ago.

I got a preposterous deal on it, and the plan is to swap over some of the parts from this car onto the red S14, then sell this as stock. It came with some pretty nice stuff, including an ATS DeftForce and some decent Tanabe coils (DD Pros).

Wheels are CR Kai 17x9 +20. I wish they were 18's, but I'll deal, and slamming on 17's will look better while I'm still stock bodied anyway. Need to get PBM spacers.

I guess I could've just kept this and sold the red one, but I prefer red to gold and the red is a slicktop, which is what I wanted. The SE stuff is nice though.

New Problems

Picked this up two weeks ago, the day after I sold the MX73.

It's got a nasty clear coat peel, like sunburn, but otherwise it's perfect. I liked the MX73 a lot more aesthetically, but this is much more fun to drive.

I actually bought another S14 a week later, but I'll save that story for tomorrow.

Was that my exhaust?

Car is finally lowered and tight all around. I actually spent some time driving it for once on Saturday. Exhaust is scraping everywhere. It is also half-heartedly for sale.

I bought an S14 on Sunday, pictures next week.

Cleaning House

Given that I'm frustrated with the Cub and waiting on a few parts for the MX73, I'm finally getting around to putting my game room in order. I realized that I own a lot of stuff that I'm not particularly attached to, which I intend to sell so I can refocus on buying more interesting items.

I did stumble across one of my Wonderswans, which I will probably start playing again on my morning train commute. I've always been a big fan of the console, partially developed by Gunpei Yokoi. It has lots of good turn-based strategy titles, especially Gundam franchise stuff. I'm also a sucker for anything with many limited hardware versions.

There was a Limited Box like this for both FF1 and FF2.

Really?

Cub is fouling plugs like whoa. Not pleased. I basically need a new head, a new piston, and new rings. Not what I bargained for, I was told "full mechanical restoration". Apparently the overbore job was garbage.

Problems and Solutions

Finally got my front suspension done. It looks like there's a slight reverse rake, but I measured it and it's dead even front and rear. The rear just tucks so much more that it creates the illusion, I suppose.

I test-fitted a Mk1 today on the front and I'm definitely going to need extended studs. I'm getting excited about the car again though, I hadn't been for awhile.

Anyone have a grey interior they want to sell me?

Off-Topic

I haven't made a gaming post in awhile, so I figured I was due. My collecting hobby is bad enough that I could probably make 1-2 posts a day about stuff I pick up, but I'm going to wait and branch that off as another blog someday.

At any rate, I picked up this N64 Lodgenet controller from Assembler.

Lodgenet was a pay-per-play system used in Hotels that started with SNES in 1994 and grew to include N64 content in 1998. The controller connects to a special N64 via a telephone cord and the user can select various game content like they're ordering a pay-per-view movie in the room.

Obviously, the controller has a number of buttons/features that differentiate it from a normal N64 pad. As the photos show, there is no memory card slot.

Stuff like this is supposed to either be destroyed or sent back to Lodgenet or Nintendo when it's no longer in use, so it can be fairly difficult to find. I'd really like to add a functioning Lodgenet N64 to my collection alongside this controller.

Additionally, if you own a Wii, GO BUY SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2! I got my copy on Saturday and it is ruling my life.

G-Works

I recently started up a subscription to G-Works via a member on the Japanese Nostalgic Car boards

It's a really good mag, I like it better than Nostalgic Hero or Old Timer because it features more tuned cars rather than just stock restorations. It also includes a great deal of tech info, often illustrated in colorful cartoons, such as how an LSD or manual transmission works.

Not Happy

My SSR Mk1's arrived yesterday, and I was ecstatic until I actually took them out of the box.

I knew they were in very different states of finish, but I did NOT expect them to be two completely different sizes. They were advertised as being 15" all around, but one pair is plainly 14" and one is 15".

I am taking it up with the seller now, hopefully he's cool about it, especially considering I already ordered a whole bunch of other stuff from him.
