New Years Meet 2012

Courtesy of Ka Ry

These are from a 1,006 photo set, so you should really just click the link and scroll through everything. I'm not doing it justice here.

He likes it, hey Mikey

I don't generally like MX83/GX81's very much, but this is snazzy. Fender mirrors make everything better.

Wheels are AutoStrada Monza.

Public Service Announcement

US MX73 Owners: This is how it's done. Please stop putting 17's on your cars.

This car makes me regret selling mine, so for everyone who "told me so", you were right.

Excellent photos courtesy of Masaru Tanaka.

I don't hate this.

2012 Civic, unveiled yesterday.

I was hoping for a *little* more dramatic redesign, but the more I look at this, the more I like it.

Now we just need a real 4-door Civic Type R in the United States. We missed the last one because we lacked potent enough gasoline, etc. I don't even care about the powerplant, leave it the same as the Si, I just want a factory lightweight with upgraded brakes and cooling. I am a ricer, I want RED SEATS.

I also want Champ White instead of this awful pearl white, but generally, I can't argue with the shape of the thing. They just took the last one and better-ized it.

Distressingly, the Civic will no longer be sold in Japan.

That can't be good for aftermarket support.

Goodbye Goodbye

From the last day I had the MX73, fixing a few things for the new owner.

He will be accomplishing big things with this car.

Was that my exhaust?

Car is finally lowered and tight all around. I actually spent some time driving it for once on Saturday. Exhaust is scraping everywhere. It is also half-heartedly for sale.

I bought an S14 on Sunday, pictures next week.

Problems and Solutions

Finally got my front suspension done. It looks like there's a slight reverse rake, but I measured it and it's dead even front and rear. The rear just tucks so much more that it creates the illusion, I suppose.

I test-fitted a Mk1 today on the front and I'm definitely going to need extended studs. I'm getting excited about the car again though, I hadn't been for awhile.

Anyone have a grey interior they want to sell me?

Changes Changes

I profiled Greed12's Legacy back in March here.

Since then, his car has gone through some changes, most notably the wheels, which are now Rays Progressive Spoke in 19x8 +45.

Check out the rest of Subarudo here

Thanks for the submission!

Two of a Kind

I found this Daihatsu Charmant on Masaru Tanaka's Photostream.

The Charmant is effectively a rebadged KE70 Corolla with a few aesthetic differences. I really like when people do up these compact cars in a similar style to larger shakotan platforms.

This particular Charmant is owned by Hasshy, who also owns the slammed red Mirage everyone likes so much.

Visit him here: Cannabis-Beer

Hasshy has swapped over brakes, suspension, and an LSD from an AE86 into this Charmant. The wheels are Focus Racing (8.5J front, 9J rear). The car also has a 4AG 20v swap from an AE111 with ITB's and an E&E Freedom ECU.

Fender Mirrors and Tsurikawa

I've got a lot more 80's meeting content coming this week, today from the grainier of the two galleries. I'm amped that my Mk1 seller is sending me the correct wheels this week, I can't wait to get the car done.

I always see people displaying extra parts, Tomica, and other items in front of their cars at meets in a "swap meet" style at these Japanese events. I've never seen anyone in the US do this, but I'm trying to encourage it at the upcoming Ruckus meet in DC on 6/19.

I need to find a set of Carrozzeria speakers like the set below. Anyone selling a set?

I love the City Turbo, it's like the Japanese take on the Renault Turbo 2. My Tomica collecting has fallen off lately, I keep getting emails from the Tomica forum wondering what became of me.

Hatimaru 80's Meeting - Part II

More of the low-down boxy stuff. I got a lot done on my MX73 this weekend, so hopefully I'll have some shots of that soon.

Photography by Masaru Tanaka, and I was tipped to this gallery by Hasshy

GX71 Mark II. I need to find a bumper antenna. I will have more shots of the City Turbos in a future post.

MA61 Celica XX on Longchamps.

Another x71 Mark II

B310 with big N2-ish flares and Advan livery.

This is my favorite car of the set, given that it's about what I'm doing to mine, only mine's black and I'll have MkI's instead of Wats. I've ordered a chin spoiler very similar to the one you can barely see on the far left of this shot.
