Jefferson 500

The Jefferson 500 is an annual vintage endurance race held at Summit Point Raceway. I've been wanting to attend personally the last couple years, but other events keep getting in the way. Luckily the event is pretty well covered, and I found the following images on Bill Stoler's Flickr. With his permission, I thought I'd post up a few.

Many different types of cars race on-track at the same time, yielding a spectacle unlike what you would ever see in any organized class.

Okishima FC3S

I found this on the Fatlace boards HERE

I think the FC, particularly the S5, is probably the best looking car to come out of Japan since the S30. Much as I like wacky drift cars, I think this looks best with no aero.

Ruckus Nonsense 2010 - Part 3

Our ride ended up at Hains Point, a park in DC where the Potomac meets the Anacostia.

I really found myself liking the Met, I sort of want one now, but not at the expense of my Ruckus.

Ruckus Nonsense 2010 - Part 2

Continued from yesterday, more shots from our ride. I'll finish this up tomorrow.

This is Eagle's Zuma-swapped 2-smoker. Lots of custom work here (seat frame, shock mount, extension, etc). If I end up swapping, it'll definitely be 2-stroke.

Eagle's mom runs this place, and it's really fantastic, highly recommended. Check them out on Facebook HERE.

Ruckus Nonsense 2010 - Part 1

I organized a Ruckus event in DC this past weekend, however poorly. I had unknowingly planned this to be the same weekend as Hyperfest, and people were also on vacation, so our attendance wasn't what it should have been. Regardless, we had a great time, and we'll be planning more events throughout the summer. If you live anywhere near DC and own a Ruckus (or Zuma, C3, Chinese bike, etc), post a comment and I'll get at you about future events.

Here are the shots from last year's event, which had a larger turnout:

Part 1
Part 2

We started out at Stussy DC/Commonwealth on Florida Ave. From there, we rode to an excellent little Mexican restaurant owned by the family of an attendee, then to the National Mall, then to Hains Point. Great weather.

These are from when people were first showing up at Stussy:

Sanitora Scraper

I really want to import one of these, seeing as how they're old enough to be DOT and EPA exempt.

And now for something completely different

This '63 T-Bird (Project "Thunderdump") belongs to the indomitable FlimFlam of VADriven fame. He has a couple other projects I'd like to post on here as time goes on, so stay tuned.

The rear is going 2" or so lower, apparently. I love the big fat tires and the tuck with the natural lines of the car.

I think this thing is going to inspire a LOT of imitators.

He's the shop manager at Performance Autosport in Richmond, VA. Hit them up if you're in the area.

Color Me Impressed

I don't usually cover gaming news, figuring that there are better people than I to be doing such things, but I'm pretty excited about the 3DS after that keynote.

Check out Nintendo's site HERE

Be sure to look at the Metal Gear Solid shots.

Ancient History

These are from the 2009 All Japan Rally Championship Round 9, from way back in November of last year. Why am I posting it? There were plenty of Imprezas and Lancers there like you'd expect, but I liked seeing cars I don't normally think of as rally platforms covered in huge lights and whatnot. I guess either the whole series or all of this round was a tarmac stage, from the looks of the cars. The Elise is definitely my favorite with the huge light array.

Historix Japan 2010 - Part 3

Someone commented on the last post and told me that the GC10 is on Astro Supremes, not Torq Thrusts. I'm trying to find the owner now so I can get more shots.

I can't quite make out the URL on the windshield. Materia?

Sakuras! I like the glitter finish on the tail light surround panel.

This S130 (same car I posted yesterday) seems to have GC210 Skyline tail lights. It almost looks factory.

Speaking of GC210's. G-works has a big section on them this month. If you're not getting that magazine, you should be.

Historix Japan 2010 - Part 2

More zaniness from Suzuka Circuit.

I don't see a lot of modified Cosmos, usually they're stock restored cars. I'd dump it more, but it's still cool.

The Z10 Soarer is so good looking, shame we never got it. Aesthetically I think the F31 (Infiniti M30) is the closest thing we have to a car like this, although it has a much smaller aftermarket.

Sportmax 002's, in Japan?

S130's have been growing on me.

I think this is my favorite car of the event. I like how the Torq Thrusts mix it up a little. Makes me want to put a set on my car. This HAS to be on bags.
